We’re officially four months and change into the not-so-new year. Whether or not you made new year’s resolutions, I’m guessing that you set some goals for yourself. So it’s a good time to look back on the intentions we set for 2019.
My intentions are two-prong: Completing my “20 goals before 2020” and listening to my affirmations daily. (CLICK HERE to listen to my daily affirmations)
20 Goals Before 2020
I was inspired by this You Need a Budget (YNAB) podcast episode, in which, Jesse Mecham shared his experience and results reading his goals daily.
Spoiler alert: He achieved more goals than the year prior; just by reading his goals every day. What you focus on you achieve.
Until recently, I would review my 2019 goals on my Color Notes app but the list was so long that it took ten minutes to read it. Which was a drag. I dreaded opening up the app. In retrospect, the format wasn’t conducive to a year’s worth of goals. The Color App was a good start but I needed something that I could take in at-a-glance. Serendipity intervened and I found this printable from The London Pen on Pinterest. I ended up buying the bundle because she also had a vision board printable. Now I can view my 2019 goals with a more pleasing layout!
Daily Affirmations
In the same vein of reading my 2019 goals daily, I also wanted to do the same for my affirmations. Thanks to Michelle Rohr’s SOS Club I was introduced to Louise Hay. Oh my gosh. Ms. Hay’s 101 Power Thoughts has been a game-changer in my life. I started listening to it every day via the Libby app and writing down the bits that resonated with me. In addition, I began to jot down gems that I heard or saw on social media, podcasts, blogs, etc that fit with my changing mindset. The aforementioned became my affirmations which I started reading daily. That being said, recording them, as advised by Michelle Rohr has taken things to the next level over the past few weeks. Hearing my own voice brimmed with determination has me ready to go and do my best every day! (CLICK HERE to listen to my daily affirmations)
My Daily Affirmations Routine
I listen to my daily affirmations while making coffee every morning. I’ve had a couple of emotionally rough days this month and my cousin suggested listening to it in the afternoon too. To keep it all real, at this point, I’m listening to my affirmations several times a day. This practice has helped give me a boost when I am doubting myself or just need some inspiration from the person who knows my heart best. Me!
Results So Far
Overall Goal – January 2019: to be in a more calm, positive space, examine my perception of things, and focus on my core values: curiosity, wealth and meaningful work.
So far, goal achieved! Slowly identifying my 2019 goals and adding to my list of daily affirmations has helped me so much. I’ll continue to fine-tune as the year goes on. Hey, I might even record a new set of daily affirmations…perhaps, specifically for fitness or around dreaming big!
How about you? Do you read or listen to daily affirmations? If so, how has it changed your mindset? If not, are you willing to give it a try? Please let me know in the comments.
